This online unit helps fourth graders practice and expand their grammar skills. They work with subjects and verbs, create different types of sentences, and avoid sentence errors. Students learn about the parts of speech and strengthen punctuation and capitalization. Each of the 24 lessons starts with an instructional video followed by rules and examples. Two illustrated grammar activities and one writing activity help students build their language skills.
You get Google doc activities, answers, standards correlations (grade 4), and more teaching support. Students who struggle can shift to Learning Grammar, Usage, and Punctuation (grade 3), while high-flyers can move up to Developing Grammar, Usage, and Punctuation (grade 5)—more online units in the Inside Grammar series.
Building Grammar, Usage, and Punctuation works well for in-person and distance instruction. You can assign activities on paper or as part of a Google Classroom workflow. Each standards-based lesson is correlated to CCSS, LAFS, and TEKS.
