Using Helping Verbs 2

Helping verbs like can and should describe ability or expectation.

Grady can do a hook shot.

       (Can means Grady is able to do a hook shot.)

He should help our team win.

       (Should means we expect him to help us win.)

These special helping verbs are called modal verbs.
