Writing Questions

Fishing

A sentence that asks a question is called an interrogative sentence. Direct questions always end with a question mark.

Where are the best places to fish?

Did you catch anything?

When a question is reported within a statement, it is an indirect question, which does not end in a question mark.

He asked me where the best places to fish are.

She wondered if I caught anything.
