A pronoun is a word used in place of a noun.
- Carlotta rescued an injured sandpiper.
- She took it to a veterinarian.

An antecedent is the noun that a pronoun refers to or replaces. All pronouns have antecedents. Anju’s skateboard glides easily now that it is oiled.
