Using Words Correctly 2

alligator painting

These words sound the same but have different meanings:

  • road, rode: Road is a path for traffic. Rode is the past tense of "ride."

As I rode my bike, I saw an alligator by the road.

  • sea, see: Sea is a large body of water. See is to look with your eyes.

He stood beside the sea and painted all that he could see.

  • to, two, too: To shows direction or purpose. Two is the number 2. Too means "also" or "very."

I went to him and asked if I could paint too. He said, "I have enough for two painters."
