Using Pronouns

A pronoun is a word that refers to a noun.

Teri reads about caring for her cat.

       (Her is a pronoun that refers to "Teri.")

Mr. Whiskers hopes she buys him tuna.

       (She refers to "Teri," and him refers to Mr. Whiskers.)

Here are common pronouns.
