Using Irregular Verbs

water ski

Many verbs form the past tense by adding ed:

Today I waterski. Yesterday I waterskied. I have waterskied a hundred times or more.

An irregular verb creates the past tense and past participle by changing forms:

I swim as well. Yesterday I swam at the local pool. After 50 lengths, I had swum a whole mile.
