Using Gerund and Infinitive Phrases

A gerund phrase starts with the ing form of a verb and includes any objects and modifiers. A gerund phrase functions as a noun.

Traveling the world teaches you about different ways to live.

      (The gerund phrase Traveling the world functions as the subject of the sentence.)

I like walking around a big city.

      (The gerund phrase walking around a big city functions as the direct object.)
