An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. It answers the questions how, when, where, why, to what degree, or how often.

The ants worked tirelessly to create their home.

       (The adverb tirelessly tells how the ants worked.)

Yesterday they dug three separate tunnels.
