Using Adjectives

Adjectives describe nouns or pronouns.

I have many friends. They are happy.

       (Many describes the number of friends. Happy describes what kind of friends.)

An adjective often comes in front of the word it describes.

My friends have big smiles.

       (The adjective big comes before smiles.)

An adjective sometimes follows a linking verb.

Their smiles are big.
